Author's ReviewOh, woe is me. I'm a sucker for a deal, or what looks like a good deal anyway. When getting a Wii, I decided to get another remote that was bundled with the game Wii Play. I paid just over $40, and the cashier at Target had suggested I get it, so I figured I was getting a good deal by getting it not only was I getting a remote which I needed in the first place, but another game as well. But alas, Wii Play sits collecting dust.
This game has 9 mini games on it, and it's sort of to get you used to playing the Wii and using the wireless remote. The thing about it is, you have to go through all the 9 games in order the first time you play it. Which sucked if you asked me, because you had to play a bunch of stuff you didn't want in order to get to the better games. Let's delve in deeper to the games. When I first saw the Shooting Game on the back of the package, I got rather excited because I saw ducks on it and it reminded me of the old school Nintendo game Duck Hunt. Too bad this isn't like that, yes you can shoot ducks, but only a few, each round you shoot something different, like clay targets, ducks, shooting a tin can and keeping it up in the air, balloons, and even at the end you have to shoot aliens and keep them from abducting your Mii character. You hold the remote up and use the B button to shoot. It's a pretty decent game, but I wish it had more of an old school feel to it. Find Mii is probably the game I hate the most. What you have to do is pick out Miis that are alike, and the puzzles get harder and harder as you go along. I'm not into that type of game anyway, and my husband is for sure not. Moving on, the Pose Mii is not a favorite of his either, but I find it sort of cool, you have to shift your Mii into different positions and then fit that into a matching bubble. It's sort of relaxing to me. Table Tennis is a pretty decent game, but it's not all that exciting, reminds me of Pong. Now don't get me wrong, I am all about the old school, but not about something as basic as Pong. The Laser Hockey game is a tad more interesting, but I find it a little hard to move the C shaped shapes you use to bat the ball back and forth. I usually end up catching the ball in the C shape and accidently scoring in my own goal. Charge is a game that is easily forgettable. I mean seriously, I had to go look in the booklet to recall what it was. It's game where you ride on a bull and run over scarecrows and jump fences. Maybe a kid would like this, but not so much if you're an adult. The Fishing game eh, it could be better. You don't even catch certain species of fish, but like neon green fish and big orange fish and stuff like that. Looks like a 4 year old conceived this game. You do feel the fish pulling on your hook and have to pull them out of the water, but that's about it. The Tanks game is alright, you just have to blow up your opponent. You can sneak around walls and such and strategically shoot at them. Don't do like I did and shoot a wall and accidentally blow yourself up though. I thought the Billiards game would be pretty good, and it's about the best one on the whole game. Pool is hard to me in real life and I'm terrible in real life as well as in this game, but you hit the ball just like you would in the real game. It's pretty true to life and about the only game worth playing again on this one. Overall, can't say as I recommend this. Just buy another remote and skip this game, it's nothing special.
