Author's ReviewMy Experience
I'm 30+ yrs old and have owned Nintendo handheld games since they came out on the market many years ago. After several years of playing on my Nintendo Advance, I wanted something better. There was one particular game that I wanted but it was only available on the Nintendo DS. I finally went to the Toy Store and purchased a Crimson Red Nintendo DS Lite for myself along with the game that I so longed for (Nintendogs)! When I got home I ripped open the box to see my new toy! Whats in the box? Nintendo DS Lite Instruction Manual/Advertisements Stylus (+ Extra stylus) DS Lite AC Adapter/Charger Compatibility Will work with Game Boy Advance Game Paks in single player mode. Will work with all Nintendo DS games. Not Compatible With Original Game Boy Game Paks Game Boy Color Game Paks Game Boy/Game Boy Advance Game Link Cables Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter Game Boy Advance e-Reader Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable Game Boy Printer Game Boy Camera What I love about it: There are so many features. I like that when I turn the unit on, as well as during game play, the current time is posted on the screen. The touch screen is excellent and larger than the Game Boy Advance. Its very easy to set the system up the way that you want to. The Wireless Communication is fun. I can lay in bed and upload my scores wirelessly. The alarm is great when you want to monitor how long you are playing. The Pictochat is neat but, I dont find a lot of time to use it. In case you don't know what Pictochat is...let me explain. Pictochat allows you to play games and interact with other People using your Nintendo DS wireless capability. For example, while playing the Nintendogs game, you can interact with other dog owners within about 100ft. Our dogs can play and we can chat. The screen is definitely brighter than the older Game Boy Advance unit I currently own. When Im not playing Game Boy Advance games on the unit, there is a cover for the slot so that no dirt gets in. I love the versatility of this system. I can even choose which screen I prefer to play Game Boy Advance games on (Advance games only play on one screen or the other). Another thing I like is that the Nintendo DS Lite is significantly lighter than the original Nintendo DS. Being lighter comes in handy after long play periods. I especially enjoy how sensitive the screen is and how accurate the stylus is. The system has been designed for multiple uses. For example, while playing Nintendogs, your dog responds to voice commands from you because of the microphone in the system and you can blow bubbles to the dog because Nintendo DS is set up to recognize you blowing air into its sensors, as well. All-in-all...I love this system! What I dont love about it: You cannot have multiple user names. Unless you like to charge the battery frequently, you cannot use the brightest display setting. My two favorite thing about the Nintendo DS Lite: First, I carry my Nintendo DS Lite whenever I go to the Game store because of the Free Game Trial Download Station feature on the unit. All I have to do is take my unit to the Download Station, pick one of the featured games I want to test out, download it to my unit, and play away! Second, The addition of a microphone has enable even more fun game play. Compare prices at 2 stores | All DS Lite reviewsStores and Prices
