Very cool little game!

We got this for my 5 year old son for Christmas. We wondered if it would be too advanced for him, too old for him, etc. After one week though, we are impressed.

We got him the black onyx one. It is small, compact, and very lightweight. Both screens are very clear, the pictures and graphics (on the games we have purchased) have been crisp and clear as well. All of the buttons are comfortable for fingers, and the stylus is easy as pie to use. Overall, ease of use is very simple. My five year old figured it out the first day, much to our surprise.

Out of the box, you plug it in and charge before playing. It came with a wall charger and extra stylus, all other accessories are extra. You can purchase earphones, car charger, heavy duty carrying case, finger tip stylus, game storage cartridges, screen protectors, etc.

The cons are, it gets smudged and dirty fast and easy. I highly recommend investing in screen protectors so you don't scratch the screens and keeps the dirt off. The outside gets grubby too. That is why we chose black, I have seen how filthy the white ones get. Also, the speakers definately are not the great. Kind of soft and muffled sounding. The only other con is that they are fairly expensive and rarely ever go on sale, so if you do catch a sale, buy it! The bundle packs are generally a better deal, as you get extra accesories and a game usually.

Overall, I highly recommend the Nintendo DS Lite! Fun for all ages! Much better than Gameboy and the original DS.
