Author's ReviewThis camera has take many beautiful shots, both far away and macro. It is very easy to use and takes great pictures in auto mode. The menus are easy to navigate (especially having owned other Canon cameras). It turns on very fast and takes pictures quickly as well. Just like all Canon compacts, you have limited adjustment in the manual mode. The pictures are very sharp for a point and shoot. The video is great, clear video with good sound capture. The display is bright and clear.
I don't really like the design Canon went with for this model. Being more boxy makes it feel larger than my SD200, even though it is very similar in size. Low light conditions is the downfall for this camera. Like many compacts without image stabilization, you get quite a bit of blurring if flash doesn't reach it. The flash isn't very powerful, being so compact. The battery life has been great. I was able to get quite a few shots even after the low battery indicator came on. I just made sure to turn off the display and use the viewfinder! One thing I wish Canon would incorporate into their future cameras is a battery life estimate. You really have no idea how much life you have left until the low battery indicator comes on. This camera can be purchased very cheap, which makes it a great deal. You don't have to mess with the settings at all to get clear/accurate pictures and it works very quickly! It feels very sturdy but I don't think it could withstand too many drops onto hard surfaces. Make sure you get a nice protective case for this camera. Compare prices at 2 stores | All Canon PowerShot SD1000 / Digital IXUS 70 Digital Camera reviewsStores and Prices
